Hostweek in Lovisa 19. – 25.1.2019

The Slovaks and the Danes arrived to Lovisa on Saturday evening around 10 PM. The team from Iceland came in Sunday morning.

On Sunday we did not have any official program so we spent the day with our guests. The most of group Iceland went to Köpbacka for sledding and eat some sausages. Later the group went to Minerva, one of the hosts, to bake some shrovetide buns and play billiard. The Slovaks spent their Sunday in Helsinki. The Finnish hosts guided them around Helsinki. Team Denmark spent their Sunday evening taking a sauna and bathing in a jacuzzi.

We started Monday morning off by gathering in the music room of the school. There we heared presentations about everyone's country and about the city they live in. Later that day we had a guided tour around Loviisa. In the evening we had our Welcome dinner at a local restaurant called Degerby Gille. We were served fish and dessert.

On Tuesday people with different cultures visited us. We heared their stories about their life and how they've been treated in Finland.

We started Wednesday off by going ice skating in the rink near our school. We were also divided into two groups for the rest of the program. The first group went karting and the other group went surfing in Sirius. Between the change of activities we ate in a restaurant called Fellmanni.

On Thursday we were divided into groups where we discussed different refugee related topics. All nationalities told how different situations could be treated in their own country. We even recorded a video where everyone said something about the week in Finland and how we found it. In the night we had a farewell dinner and party in the school.

In Friday morning our guests started their way back to home. We all made new friends during this wonderful Erasmus week.
